"the light"
film photography
fall 1998
This was taken at night, on the first roll of film I ever shot with a fully manual camera.I was working on a project for my foundations course in Visual Arts. I was really pushing the boundaries and did not have much technical knowledge. My friend loaned me his camera and warned that I would be starving for light.
So I set up the camera on a tripod with a cable shutter release in a misty midnight field. The light source behind the tree is a street lamp streaming through the mist. I made the path of light in front of the tree by waving a flashlight about. I must have had the shutter open for about 2 minutes.
I was naive and excited and really happy with the results. It would be great to re-capture that sense of break-through and newness again.
